No, I don't think so. It's technically very easy to add features and size to an Essential: yes package every here and then, but very hard -if not impossible- to remove, just as you said. So, I very appreciate your thoroughness and wish that all developers maintaining essential packages, and those of priority required and important, show this sense of responsibility.
