please fix in the Debian caja package the bug 'Rendering of Desktop Icon Text is broken in case "No Background" is configured"', c.f. https://github.com /mate-desktop/caja/issues/105 The bug was fixed upstream after caja-1.8.1 was released, therefore the fix is not yet part of the actual debian package. Patch c.f. http://git.mate- desktop.org/caja/commit/?h=1.8&id=c5b6013dd50e5f7e888a28b86184db1102ca39ff Alternatively, you can trigger upstream to create a release caja-1.8.2 before Jessioe freeze.
