The results I see when running the "bug" script you provided are *very* close to your bad.png picture. All is fine with the "good" script. Note that I'm using these locales, and not ja_JP.UTF-8: $ locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE= LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL= Also, I've not tried if it breaks im-config. > If you do not mind, i would like to close this bug. I've no idea if the root cause for the bug I'm seeing is the same as the root cause for the bug you reported 1.5 years ago, but the effects are the same apparently, so I would find it weird to close this bug report, and then create another one with exactly the same title. Anyway, I don't care *that* much, I was just doing a little bit of bug triaging. Your call, then :) Cheers, -- intrigeri -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
