Package: ppp Version: 2.4.3-20050321+2 Severity: wishlist It seems NO CARRIER could mean two things: 1. No Dialtone, e.g., phone line wire not even connected. 2. Rings and rings and the phone was never answered at the other end. So perhaps the message should be NO CARRIER OR NO ANSWER if the two cases cannot be given separate messages. However I'm not sure and not in a position to test. Indeed $ strings /usr/sbin/chat etc. etc.|grep -i carri finds nothing, so it "might not even be the ppp package that is saying that", and therefore "not a bug".
