I don't think this is a problem in fcitx, but rather you are not using
a composting window manager. The default UI of fcitx uses cairo and
pango, and it is using transparent effects. Can you please have a try
with fcitx-ui-light? It's the default UI in fcitx's 3.x era, which
makes use of xlibs and xft for rendering.
