There's no progress at all. After playing with the code and with the upstream, I can say autofs is a hopeless project, at least as long as its current upstream maintains it. You can ask in aut...@vger.kernel.org. When I attempted to maintain this package in debian I didn't believe all the comments I've seen about this software.
