Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
When establishing encrypted connections remote certificate verification will
not work, because by default the CA file is set to /etc/ssl/cert.pem
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
To fix this, ./configure should be run with --with-ca-file=/etc/ssl/certs/ca-
certificates.crt
