Hello, I found the fix for the problem.
It's related to gnome-settings-daemon, which was running always too with my instance of E17. With dconf-editor set org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/cursor/active to false. Now the cursor should show up again. Must have to do with the latest Gnome updates.
