Dear popular people, I working on a new version of popularity-contest to spread the lot on the server better.
In this version, a file in /etc/cron.d is created in the postinst that run /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest every day at some fixed random time (random hour:random minutes). /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest is also scheduled by cron.daily as usual. This is necessary because anacron does not process /etc/cron.d. /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest is changed not to update /var/log/popularity-contest unless the submission appears to be successful. /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest will still report at most once a week, by looking at the timestamp of /var/log/popularity-contest. I have made a preliminary package available at: <http://people.debian.org/~ballombe/popcon/debs/popularity-contest_1.62~pre1_all.deb> I would be extremly glad if you could experiment with it especially if you are affected by bug #709892. This kind of change is hard to test, and we have little time before the freeze. Cheers, -- Bill. <ballo...@debian.org> Imagine a large red swirl here. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
