I don't see the symptoms, since there are no analogous controls. The two that are there do not synchronize in any way either (I wouldn't expect them to).
It is possible I updated something else. It might also be related to the phenomenon at http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Desktops/KDE/ (that explains there is a broken half-integrated PulseAudio mode where KDE isn't talking to it right).
Of course, it would be easier to compare to that if the wiki images weren't broken...
