Just to clarify, I had *just* become aware of the problem right before
your bug report came in.  I recognize that an accidental soname change
is too serious to wait on.  Also, as a side note, I would have caught
this with lintian but there is a lintian override on the library name
not matching the soname.  The reason for the override is that vips
installs two shared libraries, which confuses lintian.  I tightened
the lintian override so that it doesn't warn now but would have caught
the soname change.  I'm going to try to figure out a suitable bug on
lintian to report.  I think the soname/library name warning is too
strong right now and find myself overriding it frequently for
legitimate reasons.

Anyway, I've uploaded the fix.  nip2 is broken because of this too.
I'll upload that after vips is finished building on all architectures.
