Please remove nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-96xx from unstable; it does not support xserver 1.16 (ABI 18), which is currently in both testing and unstable. As per Nvidia's legacy GPU support document [1], the 96.xx legacy branch only supports up to xserver 1.12, and will no longer receive updates for xserver 1.13+ compatibility. Users have two options: 1) use the free nouveau driver instead (and uninstall the various nvidia packages on their system, or 2) upgrade to a newer and vendor-supported GPU.
