I have commited the fix in the Git of sysvinit: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/sysvinit;a=commitdiff;h=a4f7bab I have for the moment only tested the fix in Wheezy, in a cloud environment, and I could see both the ttyS0 console (which is for me available through "nova console-log"), and the normal tty0 console (using VNC / SPICE in OpenStack). Then I tried installing the newly patched bootlogd, and it seemed to continue to work for me (that machine is a Xen domU).
