installing a new kernel built from git://github.com/torvalds/linux in the last
day or so.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

did a:

 modprobe tun

manually, then added tun to /etc/modules

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

not to have to manually load a module in order for gogoc to run.
