Dear Maintainer,
Virtualenv does not work for manually compiled pythons.
To reproduce:
1. Download python source (may be latest version; tested for 2.7.8)
2. Compile, make and install locally
3. Try to create virtualenv
Error:
virtualenv /tmp/test -p /tmp/python/bin/python

Compilation output:
Actually not all python modules build succesfully, but all revelant to pip
(ssl) were compiled.
Python build finished, but the necessary bits to build these modules were not
found:
