Here are the screenshots of the issue:

Connected (normal): http://i.imgur.com/PBx4N03.png
Connected (abnormal): http://i.imgur.com/nymkF1V.png (the first VPN toggle
should display a blue ON similar to the WiFi togle)
Connected (network manager - normal): http://i.imgur.com/x3BXuSV.png
(network manager shows connected like normal -- this is the only place I
can disconnect from the VPN with the GUI)
Disconnected (abnormal): http://i.imgur.com/vMx3yaZ.png (when I disconnect,
I get this icon, instead of the WiFi icon. At this point my wifi IS
connected, but it shows as ethernet for some reason...)

The progress of events here is:

Click the Wifi icon in gnome shell, click the GUI toggle to connect to VPN,
(wait for connection - successful), then try to disconnect. I can only
disconnect from network manager proper, not from the GUI toggle as I could
with previous release.

I hope this helps.
