The test I added breaks on Python3, so I'll need to add a change to skip it on Python 3 (since it doesn't have "buffer"). I don't see what is wrong with the fix itself. The paramiko Debian package also builds fine with this change, and it runs the testsuite (though presumably only part of the testsuite or only on python 2?). > Subsequent to that, I use GitHub myself to allow for pull requests and > you would have known that had you contacted me prior to uploading a NMU. > I had already acknowledged your bug report and was monitoring the > upstream activity on it. It seems odd to me that a proprietary system like GitHub is the primary place for submitting changes to a Debian package. I'll cancel the delayed NMU per your request. > This issue will be fixed but I will not have it done by breaking other > issues. This is a very poor and rushed NMU. There are no other issues it introduces in the Debian package. This is causing a FTBFS for bzr, which will cause it to be removed from unstable in two weeks so I'm keen to get it fixed soon.
