These are actually two separate bugs. The first bug is indeed addressed with the patch you mention. The pygrub malfunction is a bug probably in Xen and already known to the Xen devs: http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2013-01/msg01523.html For this reason, I'm cloning this bug and reassigning the clone to xen.
