There has been a bug reported in Debian on the package for the
Template::Plugin::LaTex module (libtemplate-plugin-latex-perl [1]), failing
to build from source (FTBFS) due to test failures.
A transcript for the build attempt is included in the bug report, but it
appears to be 'Can't exec "xelatex"' type errors in showing up LaTex.Driver.
I've been testing it on two systems; both with Perl v5.18.2. Where the
tests passed; it has liblatex-driver-perl at v0.12-1,
liblatex-encode-perl at v0.08-2, liblatex-table-perl at v1.0.6-2, and
libtemplate-perl at v2.24-1.1. Where it failed (on Debian Jessie);
liblatex-driver-perl at v0.200.4-1, liblatex-encode-perl at v0.091.5-1,
liblatex-table-perl at v1.0.6-2, and libtemplate-perl at v2.24-1.1+b1
(amd64).
(to successfully run the tests, you need to have XeTeX,
PDFLatex, and a bunch of TexLive packages installed), and you can only
install interactively.
As another found; if the texlive-xetex package is installed, the
"xelatex" related errors appear to be taken care of (but there are still
other errors). Which makes me wonder if there's a missing package
dependancy... (perhaps in liblatex-driver-perl...)
I am hoping to put some time this weekend into
redoing the installation and test cases so that it runs better on smoke
testers, and passes tests on all systems which minimally meet the
requirements for operation.
If I can be of help with that, please let me know.
