Thanks for your report.

Did you  see the following files in dar-docs?

/usr/share/doc/dar-docs/examples/darrc_sample
/usr/share/doc/dar-docs/examples/JH_darrc

documentation. Also, there's no documentation provided for the semantics
> of the "compress-exclusion" commandline parameter.

 /usr/share/doc/dar-docs/FAQ.html contains:

"Note that dar provides in its /etc/darrc default configuration file, a
long list of -Z options to avoid compressing most common
compressed files, that you can activate by simply adding compress-exclusion
on dar command-line."
