Sometimes, it might close in one minute, other times it will take
longer.

I tried to add wheezy-backports, however when I then updated the
package listings, the update manager indicated errors that certain
files could not be found from the server, so I then removed
it.

I have noticed slow response times from IMAP accounts at AOL, I would
see at the bottom of the Claws window that it was connecting to the
one of the folders in the account and it would just sit there until
it connected. I do not know if this is the actual reason for Claws not
exiting immediately, but I have since deleted the AOL accounts and
will see how Claws performs now. 

Some time ago, I unchecked the 'Use Non-Blocking SSL' box to see if that
helped with the AOL connections, but it did not.
