Package: apt
Version: 0.6.42.1
Severity: normal

apt-key update attempts to access the file
/usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg, which is not provided
by any package.

Also, apt provides key 1DB114E0 as /usr/share/apt/debian-archive.gpg,
but that key expired on 2004-01-15.

According to vorlon,

the idea of importing the keys to use for trusting packages from a
keyring that you downloaded as part of a package is screwy.

Which might not be wrong. So, this bug is waiting for:

  - apt to provide an updated keyring, if that is whats intended
  - apt-key to no longer include the "update" command, since it
doesn't appear to do anything with recent versions of
    debian-keyring package

The manpage for apt-key should also be updated to remove references to
/u/s/keyrings/ stuff that isn't provided by any package.
