Package: debian-policy Version: 3.6.1.1 Severity: wishlist Policy 9.4 requires initscripts to format their output this way:
Doing something that takes time now... In #254998 I have asked the dpkg maintainers to replace Unpacking replacement foo ... with Unpacking replacement foo... (etc.) so that when installing packages that run initscripts the ellipsis style is consistent. The dpkg maintainer says that he will not proceed with this change until he is directed to do so by policy. Also, he would like maintainer scripts' use of ellipsis to be similarly regulated before he makes the change to dpkg. I therefore ask that policy 9.4 be extended to cover ellipsis in output from dpkg and from maintainer scripts. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.10 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
