Package: irker
Version: 2.7+dfsg-2~bpo70+1
Severity: normal

I'm trying to backport this package to wheezy, and i'm having some
problems making it connect to irc.indymedia.org.

I am seeing:

1401310888.381945||:guerin.indymedia.org NOTICE * :*** Looking up your

[...]

This repeats around 10 times before:

1401310891.717991||ERROR :Reconnecting too fast, throttled.
1401310891.918459||ERROR :Reconnecting too fast, throttled.

1401310892.319415||ERROR :Reconnecting too fast, throttled.

which repeats multiple times per second.

This seems like a very bad failure mode because it basically does a
DOS against the IRC server.

Now I can't reproduce this on jessie, so there has to be something
weird with the libraries here... Still, the failure is one thing, but
the repeated attempts is another...
