I can confirm this problem and also Eikes comments on the 2 line patch. With this little fix changing passwords works again. As an additional information: This problem only arises when you use the "pam_password exop" password generation scheme in /etc/pam_ldap.conf. "md5" or "crypt" works without this patch.
As this patch is minor invasive are there any chances that it will make it into sarge?
