  I can't reproduce this.  Would it be possible for you to send me (or post
online) the following files?

  * /var/lib/dpkg/status
  * /var/lib/apt/lists/*
  * /var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates
  * /etc/apt (everything in it)

  Just putting them in a big bzipped tarfile would be fine.
