Hi everyone!
I would like to reopen this bug, I'm experiencing the same symptoms:
Random hard freeze, magic keys not working, nothing relevant in the logs after
reboot.
It first happened after upgrade to kernel 3.14.2. I rolled back to 3.13. But
some time after that it also happened on previous 3.13 and now on 3.14.4.
My laptop had uptimes from weeks to months before this started to happen.
It is not a temperature issue, temperature is fine before the freeze.
When freeze happens:
System fan does not change speed, but airflow gradually becomes very hot.
If sound was played, last buffer content becomes cycled.
No idea about triggers, it happened just on idle (although 'near' input events
like mouse move), on running find, after launching synaptic, some
seconds/minutes/hours after (re)connecting HDMI display. Nothing to put a
finger on.
It did not (yet) happened in console, or without external monitor attached.
