I probably should have waited a bit before sending my last message, because I've two new observations:

I've just downloaded and tested old versions of the upstream source, and while 1.99r6 works fine, 1.99r7, the first version to use libdockapp, displays a black window except when iconified. I did a quick search for other Debian packages which require libdockapp2, and from the limited selection chose, installed & tested wmusic. I see exactly the same behavior with wmusic as I do with wmacpi: I get a black window except when iconfied. I therefore think that bugs #280495 and #293546 result from a problem in libdockapp2, not in wmacpi. (It's also possible that wmacpi and wmusic are both using libdockapp incorrectly. I don't know enough about libdockapp to determine this, and I don't have any other programs which use it to try.) The wmusic package appears to have had a black-window problem once before - see bug #89516. -- William Aoki KD7YAF [EMAIL PROTECTED] /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign \ / No HTML in mail or news!
