Working with the OpenRISC/or1k port, I saw that this package build-depends on ssh, which for some reason cannot be installed at the moment, so this library cannot be compiled. (We can wait until the other problem is solved or have some work around, no problem on this front). But I searched with codesearch.d.n and the only string 'ssh' in the package is the one in debian/control. Since it uses mpi and other stuff perhaps it is indeed needed because it uses other resources from ssh packages, but since it depends on "ssh" and not a particular implementation like "openssh-client", I am not sure. So perhaps you can check if it's really needed, and if not modify the package in future versions.
