Does it crash without muttrc (mutt -nF /dev/null)? Could you please: -1) Copy one such segfaulting message to a temporary mbox, gzip it, and send it here attached. Or if mail contains secrets, to me personally. -2) Let segfault create a core, gdb $(which mutt) core, then type "bt" and "quit". -3) What's the output of "locale" command? Bye!
