I have added two build failures blocked by this bug. Also, upstream should fix the mess to build subagents. On my system, I get: $ net-snmp-config --agent-libs -Wl,-z,relro -Wl,-z,now -L/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu -lnetsnmpmibs -lsensors -lpci -ldl -lnetsnmpagent -lwrap -Wl,-E -lnetsnmp -lcrypto -lm The problem is that -lnetsnmpmibs basically contains a full-featured snmpd agent and hence the necessity to link to various libraries. Building a SNMP subagent should not mean load a whole snmpd inside another program. -- Don't comment bad code - rewrite it. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan & Plauger)
