Thanks for the report and patches here. I applied Christian's patch, mostly because it was the last one posted and reviewing his patch was easy and it seemed to make sense. However just before uploading this, I reverted the or1k part because that triggered lintian warnings -- can you teach dpkg/lintian about or1k first? My upload will likely close this bug, but I'm hoping that the other bootstrapping patch that I applied will resolve the or1k issue as well. Feel free to reopen or file another bug about this if that isn't the case, or if you'd like to see some other patch applied.
