I'm very, very sorry about this myself. The whole affair is pretty ironic, considering the amount of energy I've personally invested to get mplayer (and ffmpeg, FWIW into debian/main). Unfortunately, even after repeated calls for help in #732159, nobody volunteered to help out with the package.
