Package: hwinfo
Version: 21.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

 (I had hoped to provide a more detailed analysis so I did
  an 'apt-get source hwinfo' but my builds died horribly,
  complaining that I was missing packages like 'dbus-1'
  that I'd prefer not to have to install just for this... >-/ )

PROBLEM: Executing hwinfo on my (fairly current) Debian
         system triggers the stack-smash detector:

 ### mod ### e521:/tmp/ 242---> hwinfo
 > floppy.1: get nvram*** stack smashing detected ***: hwinfo terminated
 Segmentation fault

 ### mod ### e521:/tmp/ 243---> gdb hwinfo

 Do you need "set solib-search-path" or "set sysroot"?
