Package: nano
Version: 2.2.6-1+b1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

according to the man page, nano should
"read initialization files in the following order:
 SYSCONFDIR/nanorc, then ~/.nanorc."

So the settings from ~/.nanorc should just be a supplement
to settings from SYSCONFDIR/nanorc;
settings from SYSCONFDIR/nanorc should be effektive,
as long as there is no other order from ~/.nanorc.

I just wanted to change the syntax-highlighting for awk-files,
so I placed my personal syntax in ~/.nano/awk.nanorc
and created ~/.nanorc including just 1 line:

include ".nano/awk.nanorc"

Now the syntax-highlighting for awk-files works as I wanted,
but the standard syntax-highlighting for sh-files is switched off
(and probably all other settings from /etc/nanorc, but I did not test this).

I helped myself by copying /etc/nanorc to ~/.nanorc and made my changes there.
But now I will no longer profit from possible optimisations on updates
in the standard configuration.

Regards, Bernward.
