Package: emacs24 Version: 24.3+1-2 As per http://www.masteringemacs.org/articles/2013/12/29/whats-new-in-emacs-24-4/, A newer version is available upstream, in Savannah ( 24.4.50 ). For sure 24.4 is ready to at the very least go into experimental, here in Debian.
