Thanks and sorry for the premature closing of bug. I assumed that adding iceweasel would fix it. So just to clarify - the effect is the same when using gksu or kdesu? It could be that gksu does not provide any information what UID the calling user has. If you run "kdesu env", do you see anything that indicates your username or your userid in the environment?
