Package: xfce4-power-manager Version: 1.2.0-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
Had to uninstall gnome as gnome-shell (I think) was locking up on startup of the machine. Once gnome-desktop-environment and gnome-shell were purged, my startup did not lock up, but all of my power settings seem to have been thrown away. It is now not possible to suspend the laptop when the lid is closed or to hibernate from a right click of the power manager icon in the panel. I googled relatively extensively for how to get back whatever it is that is missing in my setup to reallow suspend/hibernate, but have had no luck. (a side note, some hardware operations seem to be not working either, like automount). I suspect I need to add a policy, but I'm unable to work out how it all hangs together. Tried adding back gnome-desktop-environment, but this led to my laptop locking up on startup again. I've resorted to doing sudo pm-suspend for the time being, but it would be great to be able to close the laptop lid and have suspend work again. Please let me know if you need more information.
