Sorry for the long delay, anyway: Running applications in that way is a poor strategy, and I doubt upstream would change working dir to manage those kind of things. You can: - write a better script to auto-create a working directory whenever you want. - use a better archiver than tar. both strategies are acceptable. In general there are as many reasons to runs script starting from home as reasons to run them from the 'current' directory (what ever it is). I would close this report, indeed... -- Francesco P.
