Package: dar
Version: 2.4.8-1
Severity: normal

Severity normal because at least one [rare] archive corruption bug was
fixed in new upstream releases since 2.4.8.

Please update to the latest upstream (and, if possible, provide a backports
release).

According to the changelogs posted on the dar ML, several minor bugs, and
one archive data corruption bug related to sparse files have been fixed
since version 2.4.8. This bug might also affect stable (2.4.5), although
since it causes dar to create a broken archived file that fails the CRC
check, it should be noticed if the backup archive is tested.
