Tried debian-testing-powerpc-netinst from 2005-11-12, the problem is
still there. I really don't see the point of filing a duplicate report
against that.
FWIW, ubuntu-breezy and fedora core 4 are able to install. I've got
loads of partitions available on this box, so if anybody has a possible
fix to test, or needs more info, please contact me. Maybe the nvsetenv
error is meaningful, or perhaps the installer didn't like finding a SATA
disk with the CD on /dev/hda.
Meanwhile, I'm off to try to find a kernel config that will not lose
the keyboard and mouse after a couple of minutes (or after attempts to
play sounds) :-( No, it's not a debian bug, it seems to be a general
kernel problem on recent single processor G5s. Doncha just love new
hardware ;)
