Okay. So we have a user by default or atleast by config (default one) had a user specified. The init script however fallbacks to clamav if none was specified. Don't know if this was case once. And then you have SOCKET_RWGROUP which seems to be used by people as a workaround. What about SOCKET_RWGROUP? Do you want to edit the config file and this group in /etc/clamav/clamav-milter.conf? > I don't think it should refuse to start as root.
