In the original bug, I reported that the ubuntu version of chromium does not have this bug. Further investigation reveals that this conclusion was wrong.
This bug is only in i386. The amd64 version works. However, it now looks like an upstream bug. I tested Google Chrome version 33.0.1750.149 on i386 (Debian Jessie/Sid) and it also has this bug.
