Hi James,

here we go

How exactly did you attempt to install distributed-net? (dpkg -i,
apt-get install, aptitude, synaptic, something else?)

as root, apt-get install distributed-net

also, did this on three different systems, always the same error.
One of the systems was a clean install.

did an "apt-get purge distributed-net" and "apt-get install distributed-net" right now and it also failed

Were you prompted to run the configuration utility? If so, what did you
answer?

Yes, got prompted and answered yes

If I answer "No" then I get the same message:
distributed-net is not configured please run: dpkg-reconfigure distributed-net ... failed!

So, it's the same for both choices.

What happens if you run "dpkg-reconfigure distributed-net" (as root, or
through sudo) with the package installed?

Did this as root, got prompted, answered yes and it jumps right in the config menu of the dnet client.

If you can provide answers to the questions above, along with any other
details that you think might be relevant, then I will try to figure out
what is going on. The behaviour that you are seeing could be either a
bug of a feature depending on the exact circumstances.
Hope this helps, if you need more informations, please let me know.
I could also give acces to one of the systems.

Best regards

Ralph
