This seems likely to be to a known authentication bug in old versions of Ejabberd. http://git-annex.branchable.com/forum/XMPP_authentication_failure/ I have not checked if the jabber server is running ejabberd, but that seems the most likely cause. The bug is fixed in ejabberd 2.1.10-5 in debian. -- see shy jo
