Here's the unrecognized token error that basically is the output of smtpasswd. 

zhong@debian:~$ reportbug totem
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Unrecognized token: XXXX
Unrecognized token: X
Unrecognized token: XXXX
Unrecognized token: X

After removing the double quotes, the same error still appears.

this seems like a network issue, but I see you  defined the fields
value with the double quotes: can you try to remove then and leave
configuration like

smtphost smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465
etc etc

please run reportbug on a terminal and cut&paste the output of this error.
