There's always the "if unsure, ask someone (-devel for example)" option
for anything in Debian.

That is much preferred over not doing anything, and not a shame either,
nobody knows even remotely everyting one needs to know. Also in this
case, I don't know whether this is really a security issue, I'd need to
take a closer look or ask to find out.
