Hey, While I was able to reproduce this bug, I believe that it is not directly related to how-can-i-help package. In fact, I can reproduce it with any Post-Invoke apt.conf.d script that produces any output after dpkg error was encountered. This bug is most likely heavily related to https://bugs.debian.org/730795 . However, #730795 was fixed in apt version 0.9.13.1 and our bug still manifests itself under apt 0.9.15 (which I am currently using). I've quickly diffed apt source and the fix for #730795 seems to be still there, so it doesn't look like a direct duplicate. In my opinion, this bug should be reassigned to apt maintainers.
