Package: binutils
Version: 2.15-6
Severity: normal

Hi,
When attempting to link cdb[0] on an AMD64 system, running Sarge bits
from debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org, an assertion failure is generated:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/cdb-0.75% make
./load cdbget cdb.a buffer.a unix.a byte.a
collect2: ld terminated with signal 11 [Segmentation fault]
/usr/bin/ld: BFD 2.15 assertion fail ../../bfd/elflink.c:6081
make: *** [cdbget] Error 1
zsh: exit 2 make

I have placed the compiled files at:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~daniels/cdb.tar.gz
Output of ld --verbose is at:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~daniels/cdb-ld-output
generated from:
gcc -s -o cdbget -Wl,--verbose cdbget.o cdb.a buffer.a unix.a byte.a > foo 2>&1

It appears to be entirely reproducible; running make clean then make
is fine. Doesn't appear to be hardware-specific as the memory and RAM
is OK (all crazy HP Proliant hardware; a DL385, IIRC), and other stuff
builds fine.

I'm afraid it doesn't look as if there's much terribly useful
information here; please let me know what else I can provide.

Cheers,
Daniel
