Hi, just wanted to make note this issue persists, for no obvious reason.
Without the debug mode, setting up & verifying beforehand of - broadcast client - multicast client - manycast client - orphan mode is close to impossible. This is practically limiting Debian’s NTPd to the functionality from pre-2006. At least for setups where people care. root@pi:~# cat /etc/debian_version 7.2 root@pi:~# uname -a Linux pi 3.6.11+ #538 PREEMPT Fri Aug 30 20:42:08 BST 2013 armv6l GNU/Linux root@pi:~# /usr/sbin/ntpd --debug ntpd: The ``debug-level'' option has been disabled -- this package was built using 'configure --disable--debug' ntpd - NTP daemon program - Ver. 4.2.6p5 USAGE: ntpd [ -<flag> [<val>] | --<name>[{=| }<val>] ].. Note: I think it was fixed back during lenny days, but it’s too long to be really sure. If possible, could you check, on a new release, that debug mode is working or at least, if it’s turned off due to some grave issue, this isn’t kept as a default for the next N years. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
